The ROAMies Podcast
From Overwhelm to Simplicity Bliss
Since few of us spend much time at home, quarantine can be an excellent time to get the house in shape and set you up for on-the-go success. This episode piggy backs on our previous 5 episodes that walk you through the process of decluttering your home and is Part 2 in regards to clothing.
Shop your closet-
Pick pieces you wouldn’t normally think to go together and try them on.
Find new pairings and something you might not have previously loved, could become your next new fave.
To inspire this process, think about:
-what is your “uniform”
-inspiration outfits
-dress the part- dress for success.
-Current trends. @msbeltempo did a great job demonstrating this concept in her video here: https://youtu.be/4m4eCc6DHRg
Pare down what you love for your body RIGHT NOW.
Then purge away as the #KonMari Method suggests.
From the remaining pieces, you can then create capsule wardrobes.
Let each month or each season inspire you to shop your closet from the remaining clothes you love. Chose 10-30 pieces each time that pair with all the pieces in the "capsule."
Make a new capsule once a year, once a season, monthly. Then everything in your closet gets loved and used. You’re creating space and peace in your home and save time and money.
And when you’re home, dressing becomes quick and easy and you know you always look and feel great. Whether it's for a Zoom call, trekking the Andes Mountains, or picking up your kids, you'll be comfortable. You’ve already done the homework to know which pieces work with other pieces, having a system where each piece goes with everything else. A capsule wardrobe can fit nice and snug in a small suitcase, so doing the work now makes life easier for both your life at home and when you are traveling.
Once you have pared down and purged- if you find you have a few pieces that don’t go with anything - maybe it’s time to let those go also….
If you’re keeping your wedding dress or grandma’s famous Easter hat, then store those elsewhere- they don’t need to be part of your daily clothing decision.
