But yesterday talked about building your immunity by consuming foods and supplements that help feel the gut. And today we're going to further our conversation about how to build your immunities. So we're going to pick up where we left off yesterday after a few words from art. Information and statements regarding certain dietary supplements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or health condition. Content on our podcast is for reference purposes on Lee and is not intended to substitute for advice given by a physician, pharmacist or other license. Health care professional. You should not use this information as self diagnosis or for treating a health problem or disease. Contact your health care provider immediately if you suspect that you have a medical problem. This episode piggybacks on our previous episodes. Let's dive in, I would say, if you only did one thing to boost your immunity and get ready for not only the Corona virus, but whatever you might be facing in your future is vitamin C. In my experience in the research that I've done, Vitamin C is going to be your main ally in fortifying your immune system. So, in a quick, very simplified nutshell, what vitamin C does is it acts as an antioxidant, and what that means is that it neutralizes free radicals and free radicals are particles that can damage our tissues are cells or genetic material, and they can trigger inflammation. And inflammation is usually what causes sickness and poor health within our bodies. So vitamin C helps to keep all of that in check. Our bodies cannot create vitamin C on its own, so we have to get it from food and or supplements. Let me just be clear that I'm not saying that vitamin C will kill a virus what our goal is in this series of podcasts about our immunity is we want to bolster your entire body and your entire system so that when some when one part of your body is weakened, the other remaining parts of your body are strong and fortified, and they can help hold up your body while your body is fighting a virus, for example. No, what I'm about same may or may not shock you, I don't know, but I want to recommend that you take 4000 milligrams per day. That means that you're going to do for 1000 milligram shots of vitamin C throughout your day. What's wonderful about vitamin C is that your body will just simply flush out anything that you do not use. What I'm recommending is far beyond what would be normally recommended. And again, this is because we are in a critical season in a vulnerable season where we are more susceptible to getting some type of sickness. And so that is why, for this season, we're recommending an increased dose just to give you that extra boost in this season of time. This isn't something we're saying. Do every day for the rest of your life and again you need to check with your doctor. If you have an auto immune dysfunction, my advice could be very detrimental to you. This is general advice. And again, you've got to check with your doctor. You know your body. Listen to your body. Your body might be telling you it needs some supplements and some love. And hopefully what we recommend to you will be very helpful. Now, you can do this several different ways and I'm gonna talk about the dosage again in just a minute. Um Allah or Amla? Am l. A is Indian gooseberry and it is the most potent form of vitamin C that you confined. So ideally, you're going to take your vitamin C in the form of an animal, a powder that you throw in a smoothie or something like that, or you can Sprinkle it on your cereal or whatever. So Amla is great. My mother in law swears on vitamin C crystals and those air very tart. But they're just crystals and you put those in water. There are other things like emergency those air packets and you just put him in your drink and they in your water and you need to be drinking water anyway, right? So throw it in your water and drink your vitamin C. I'll usually do a different combination of things throughout the day, either what I have on hand or what I think about, or what's convenient. But I probably won't have four packets of emergency in one day, but I might do a vitamin C tablet or that I might do a vitamin C spray in my mouth later. And then I might do a powdered version or an effervescent tablet, and so I kind of switch it up throughout the day myself. Just be careful. Whatever brand you use that you check the sugar content because a lot of those brands that, like emergency does have sugar in it. And so you can kind of be defeating the purpose a little bit. You know it's gonna be a tone of sugar, but it's gonna have some in there so fine, healthy alternatives. If you take in more vitamin C than your body needs, it's just going to flush it out. It's going to usually flush it out through your urine, and your urine will be very bright yellow, and this is a very fun topic, and if it is like way too much, it could flush out in the form of diarrhea or something lovely to that effect. So I haven't experienced that myself. So all you dio is if that is the case, just back off and or introduce it slowly so you can see your body's tolerance level and that dosage that works best for you. So to avoid that number one always take your vitamins with food unless the package tells you otherwise. Because if you take vitamins on an empty stomach, you will feel nauseated. You will get sick to your stomach. And so those of you who might not take vitamins on a regular basis or you think they don't make you feel good, it might be because you are not taking them with food. Or you might when it says, take it on an empty stomach. Maybe you are taking it with food, but if you've avoided vitamins in the past because they made you not feel good, you felt nauseated. It could be that. And, um, Rory loves. I love them, too, But Rory is lately on a kick of vitamins that come from food. So mega food is a great brand of vitamins and supplements that are made from food, and you can actually take those on an empty stomach because they are food and they're not going to make you feel so upset. And then Rory is using. Right now he's got a garden of life, vitamin, multi vitamin that he loves. That's also food based. So those air really fun to find. And of course, ideally, you want to get organic. You want to get non GMO. You want to get as clean supplements as possible. With all of this, you've got to read the labels on anything that you've take. You've got to check with your doctor on anything that you take, because again, I'm not a medical professional and I don't know your specific medical situation. All of this. You've got to filter through what you can afford, what you're what's going on with your body and what does your doctor say? And for me, I try to get in 4000 milligrams a day, but I'm definitely not perfect, and I forget, and so I end up taking 2000 or 3000 milligrams, or sometimes just 1000 because my schedule is different every day, and I don't set alarms to remind myself to take vitamins, so it depends how regiment and do you want to be in all of that? But even for me, having the goal of 4000 milligrams puts me in a much better situation than if I didn't have that goal at all. In my opinion, vitamin C is the number one thing that you can do. It knocks out cold very quickly, and it is going to help boost you and get you ready for that boxing ring we were talking about. But I also have to mention that there's something magic about carrot juice. Folks, we're gonna talk about carrot juice. I first learned about carrot juice when I ran across Hallelujah Acres. And this is a diet slash organization slash community that I ran across many, many, many, many years ago when I started eating vegetarian and trying to go more plant based and eat vegan, and I was looking for recipes and all this kind of thing. Well, the premise at with Holly Acres is if you eat the way God intended for you to eat in the garden, which is basically eat the seed bearing plants. Then you won't get sick. And so they would have all these people never get sick because they're eating basically a vegan diet. Well, they supplemented their vegan diet with barley green juice. So green grass juice, right, and then carrot juice. They'd care juice like three times a day for me. Something about the carriages latched on because I was also, I've always been interested in learning how food can again. Like I said, food is medicine. How can it prevent different things? Like I love learning that broccoli can help prevent cancer or diabetes or things like this. So those have always been like, intriguing things for me. And so as I did research, just like, you know, I don't want cancer, people have cancer. That that doesn't look fun. So you know what are things I can to prevent to prevent cancer? I would run across things that dealt with cancer and carrot juice and, like carrot juice, helping it helping with cancer. And I just started to notice that when I was started, get that some of Sinus infections and I knew Oh, now my, my immune system is weakened. I've got a boost. My immunity. I would start drinking carrot juice and oh my goodness, I would like instantly feel better. It was so bizarre. You can buy it on the shelves in your juice aisle, and that might be a good thing, too. If you are storing up food, that might be a good purchase toe have on hand. Because should you get sick, should you have to stay in home longer? That kind of thing. Carrot juice is a great thing to have on hand. It tastes best when it's fresh in your refrigerated section and it's fresh or, you know, you juice your own any kind of thing like that. When Rory had cancer and was on chemo, I also put him on carrot juice, carrot juice, carrot juice all the time, and he's now cancer free. We also did a lot of these supplements that I'm talking about it again. That's why I'm also passionate about all this, because breweries cancer free, and I think you know it's because of all and of course, all the prayers that everybody, um, prayed and what God did to heal him. But carrot juice has some great cancer fighting properties, and it is There is something about it. I don't know what so I just called at the magic juice. So those are my top two favorite immune booster go twos, vitamin C and carrot juice, and I highly recommend them. As you can tell, we are out of time today.
